The Celebration of the Life of
Ellen Ann Burns

Sunday, February 11th, 2:00pm

at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church

Our beloved mom, Ellen now is with the Lord.  On Saturday, January 27th at 7:15pm, she took her final breath, and soon after was in the presence of her Lord and Savior.  This was expected, yet it was very hard.

On Saturday afternoon,  we got a phone call from dad that she wasn't doing well.  She had been taking morphine for her liver pain last couple weeks.  She didn't feel much pain that day, and decided not to take it.  But morphine wasn't just for pain, but also helping her to breath (somehow).  Because she didn't take it, she couldn't breath, and got panicked.  Dad quickly gave it to her, but she still had trouble breathing.  The hospice nurse came and gave her oxygen mask, but she was barely surviving.  Tim and Chie got there around 2:30pm, it was very hard to see her like that.  She could hear us, but wasn't able to respond.  It was the hardest time of this whole thing.  Then her 2 brothers, her mom, and some of her closest friends were able to come and say goodbye to her.  Later on, Chris, Tim's younger brother, after his best friend's wedding, was able to come and hold her hand for long time.  Erin (Tim's sister) and her husband Tim were able to come just around 7pm, and spent some time with her.  She passed away 15-20minutes after that.  It seemed she was waiting for Erin to arrive to see her one last time.  She got to hear all her family, and some of her friends.  We were planning to bring her to hospital for her to feel more comfortable, but before the medical  team came, she finished her race, we think that was the way exactly she wanted.

It's been so evident that God's grace is sufficient for those who need.  God graciously set her last day on the earth when all family members and some close friends could be there.  It was and is sorrowful, but not a bad thing.  Now she is pain free and rejoicing in her salvation in heaven.  We have never been more thankful for her salvation and our assurance and confidence in Christ our Lord.

Her life was significant.  She has touched so many of our lives, and truly a great, wonderful mother, friend, wife, daughter, and sister.  But that is not the only reason why we celebrate in her life and death.  Her eternal life was promised when she first believed in Jesus Christ as her Lord.  Because she loved her God and did what would please Him, Her life was very meaningful, full of love and all about sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

If you are reading this, and don't know Christ as your Savior, please talk to someone close, or write us.  As it was her passion to share Christ, also it is ours.  This glorious hope we have in Christ assures our peace knowing that she is in a better, much much better place.

At last, we find ourselves overwhelmed and comforted because of the support and prayers we have been receiving.  Thank you for those who love and support us.  We are doing good.

We want to say thank you for all the phone calls, letters and cards and visitors that our mom has been receiving.  They have been a great blessing to all of us, and especially encouraging to mom and dad.

Sue Huskey, and her husband Duane, one of mom and dad's closest friends, came to visit from Lynden.

Chie's friends from California, Judy and Christi visited to encourage them.

Things have been going well with the family as we prepare for mom's departure into glory.  We've all been spending alot of time together and it has been good, Mitsuki always makes everyone laugh.  Keep praying for mom as she is dealing with some pain, her liver is getting larger and pushing on the surrounding organs, but she has medicine that helps keep her a little more comfortable.  Thanks again for all the encouragment.  Feel free to leave comments for mom and dad, or give them a call if you want to visit, mom loves visitors.

We will update as much as possible how our mom Ellen and her family are doing, so that you can be part in the process of being refined.
